Alicia’s artistic journey is deeply intertwined with her personal and professional life. With a background in linguistics and education from Hebrew University, Alicia initially pursued a path of teaching and working in social services and fundraising. Despite exploring painting, mosaic, stained glass, and pottery as hobbies, it wasn’t until two years ago—during a particularly challenging time—that she fully embraced ceramics. After quitting her job and buying a pack of clay, she discovered a profound sense of freedom and fulfillment. Slowly, she built her studio, transforming it into a sanctuary of creativity and joy.

Design Philosophy

Alicia’s design philosophy centers around embracing the unknown. Every piece she creates is an organic journey, guided by fluid movements and unrestrained imagination. She lets the clay take its course, never planning the outcome in advance. This free-form approach ensures that each creation is as unique as the process behind it. 

Inspiration

Nenufar draws its inspiration from Alicia’s life journey and the people who have shaped her. The name itself, meaning "water lily," is a tribute to her late father, who would joyfully point out lilies in nature, exclaiming in his funny French accent, “Oh! Look, les Nenuphars!” His presence continues to guide and protect Alicia as she crafts her ceramics. The breathtaking views of the Judean Hills, her love for Jerusalem, and the fluidity of natural elements further inspire her creations, making them a true reflection of her inner world.
